The African Centered Leadership Project (ACLP) was established in 2021 to share the knowledge and experiences of African Centered Pioneers & Leaders in order to equip individuals with the tools needed to authentically, unapologetically, and successfully serve BIPOC people and communities.
Leaders who are committed to the liberation and elevation of Black and African descended people have much to gain from the wisdom of elders, leaders, and scholars who center the culture, values, and experiences of Black people in the work they do. ACLP seeks to provide space and support for leaders and those aspiring to be leaders of organizations serving people of African descent to learn, develop, and utilize the practices, rituals, and pedagogy that build on the strengths and resilience of Black and African descended people.
ACLP provides coaching, training, and retreats for individuals and organizations wanting to operationalize African centered theories and concepts in the work they do to uplift and advance people and communities of color.
ACLP Rest & Reset Retreat is an annual (January) multi-day retreat providing opportunities for women of color to gather in safe spaces to reflect, reenergize, refocus, and reconnect with themselves and like-minded others. My retreats offer experiences that help participants understand the importance of breathing, laughing, and taking time to simply sit still. Women of color move. ALL. THE. TIME. – Even when we are sitting down, our minds are moving. Our spirits are worrying. Because of this, our physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and creative selves do not rest.
As amazing as women of color are in what we contribute to the world and our work, we deserve opportunities to simply REST. BREATHE. REFOCUS. RESET. When we allow ourselves these opportunities, our potential increases exponentially. This is what I offer in my Rest and Reset Retreats.
Need to renew? Long for time to focus?
NEW!!! ACLP - B.O.O.S.T.
ACLP Building Opportunities to Optimize Success Together. Everyone can't get away for several days to rest and reset. But that doesn't mean we don't need time to breathe and connect with other women of color in a safe space where we can lift one another, practice sitting in our authenticity together, and ignite or reignite the passion we need to set us on a path to success.
In just one day, The ACLP B.O.O.S.T. experience will leave participants inspired, motivated, and encouraged. It is the gentle push we all need sometime to launch or return us to the path to manifest our dreams and goals.

Dr. McFadgion shares her experience during the 2023 ACLP Rest and Reset Retreat.
Rested. Focused. Intentional. Supported. Inspired. Hopeful. Joyful. The weekend provided a much-needed opportunity to reset and reconnect with myself ... The specific activities and exercises enabled me to reconsider [my life plans] and reminded me of the daily practices I need to pursue to carry out these plans. The fellowship with like-minded women and opportunities to laugh and play with them were icing on the cake!
I came back renewed, energized and with defined intentions for the start of a new season. During the weekend there were opportunities to exhale, exercise, engage with others and experience a new level of introspection. If you are in a leadership capacity or even just looking to go to the next level in your professional development, take the time and treat yourself to the next ACLP RETREAT opportunity. You won’t regret it.
